Anna H. Grummon, PhD, Principal Investigator

Anna H. Grummon is an assistant professor of Pediatrics and (by courtesy) Health Policy at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Grummon is a behavioral scientist whose work seeks to identify and evaluate policies that encourage healthy eating and help people live long, healthy lives. In her work, Dr. Grummon uses randomized trials, quasi-experiments, and simulation modeling to examine how food policies like warning labels, beverage taxes, and food assistance programs affect what we eat and how healthy we are. She also studies strategies for encouraging people to choose foods that are more environmentally sustainable. Dr. Grummon's program of research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and others. Her work has been published in leading medical and public health journals including JAMA, New England Journal of Medicine, Science, and the American Journal of Public Health and received coverage in news outlets such as the New York Times, Washington Post, NBC, NPR, and Forbes

Dr. Grummon earned a PhD and MSPH in Health Behavior from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health and a BA with Honors in Human Biology from Stanford. She completed her postdoctoral training at Harvard.

Amanda B. Zeitlin, MPH, Program Manager

Amanda is Project Coordinator for the Food Policy Lab, and also supports several behavioral weight-loss interventions at Stanford Prevention Research Center. A professional chef focused on whole food, plant-based cooking, Amanda spent several years as a culinary instructor at RD&E's Stanford Teaching Kitchen, designing and teaching classes for the Stanford community. Amanda focuses on developing policies and interventions that promote healthful, sustainable food choices for both individuals and large populations. Amanda received an AB from Princeton University, MA from Columbia Teachers College, and MPH from USC Keck School of Medicine.

Clayton R. Ulm, Data Analyst

Clayton is a Data Analyst with the Stanford Food Policy Lab, supporting experimental and quasi‑experimental studies that inform food policy, including labeling and messaging experiments and evaluations of city policies and digital platforms. He has prior experience in policy systems modeling and simulation from tobacco control, where he developed simulation models of tobacco policies using large datasets to inform model parameters and contributed to scenario analyses of flavored tobacco product bans. His current interests center on experimental studies in food policy, with a particular focus on ultra‑processed foods.Clayton received a BS from the University of Oklahoma and is pursuing an MSPH‑to‑PhD in Health Behavior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
